About

Soothing #Earholes since 2003,
Marty Moss brings a familiar yet eclectic repertoire for his audiences to enjoy. Hailing originally from Baldwinsville, NY, he now resides in Englewood, FL and travels up the East Coast in the Summertime. Known for his powerful, soulful vocal style, creative instrumentation, and riveting looping capabilities, Marty keeps the crowd entertained with hand-picked songs just right for almost any event.

Electric and Acoustic Guitar are Marty’s instruments of choice. Playing guitar since age 17 led him to begin singing and gigging out ten years after. In addition to percussion, Marty adds Harmonica and Jazz Flute to his performances for musical flavor and nuance.

Style-wise, Marty covers genres of all kinds. One could describe his setlists as containing “A little bit of everything with a particular love for American songwriters.” You might hear James Taylor, you might hear Lil Wayne. Known mainly for his solo performances, Marty can also be found singing and playing with other great musicians such as Wally Rutan, Francesco Marceri, Chris Walker, Emily Cage, Sam Cahill, Laura Hedderman, Ryan Coomey, Ryan Burdick and more.

Some of Marty’s biggest influences include his parents, first and foremost for always being supportive and encouraging him in all his endeavors. Musically, Eric Clapton (via Cream) and Jimi Hendrix were his earliest influences and made him want to be a guitar player when first starting out on an electric guitar. Within a few years, Crosby, Still and Nash and The Band had a massive influence on his love for Americana, acoustic music and singer-songwriters.

His current and past equipment list boasts classic sound met with clarity and power. His Martin D-41  is now retired to home-use only, and plays a Tom Anderson Guitarworks ‘Crowdster Plus 2’ acoustic/Electric guitar exclusively these days. His PA systems are a Bose S1 for smaller venues and a Bose L1 Model II for large venues. Marty is also a loyal Sennheiser microphone user.

Marty Moss has played many different venues, from the massive Laishley Park BBQ Festivals with thousands of attendees to private backyard BBQ’s for a few close friends – From Will’s Honkey Tonk in Englewood every third Friday of the month, to his fourth year playing the captains meeting for the annual ‘Worlds Richest Tarpon Tournament’ on Boca Grande island, FL. He finds that every venue has something to love and he is very fortunate to be able to get to play so many amazing, both large and small venues here in Southwest Florida. Not only does he get to play some truly amazing venues, but he is humbled every year to be asked to help support some amazing local charities including:

  • Worlds Richest Tarpon Tournament and their partners Captains for Clean Water and Bonefish and Tarpon Trust – to help with conservation education and the protection of the Boca Grande Fishery.
  • Johnny’s Dream – actively raising funds providing scholarships and money for rehab facility assistance for families who are struggling with addiction and who would otherwise never be able to afford it on their own for their loved ones.
  • Sand Dollar Session Outdoor Concerts – to benefit the Lemon Bay High School aquaculture laboratory.
  •  Gasparilla Island Kids Classic Tarpon Tournament – 100% of all entry fees are donated to charitable partners and benefit children’s health and educational programs throughout Southwest Florida.

And many other local Chamber of Commerce and community events.

“Englewood and Boca Grande are not where I come from, not by a longshot – but I’ve been overwhelmed with the support of this wonderful community that I’m now fortunate enough to be a part of. The local bar and restaurant owners, Charter captains,  Marina Owners, Rotary Clubs, Englewood Chamber of Commerce, Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce, etc. have really shown by example the importance of community and what we can accomplish when we work together to make cleaner, more responsible, better fisheries and communities for all of us.” – Marty Moss

For his “real” job, Marty has been working in IT for the same Engineering company since 1998. Aside from that and playing, he enjoys free time with his dog Levon and his family and friends.
